The Boynton Beach (Florida) City Hall and Library project designed and built by 澳门足彩app in a public-private partnership (P3), received the National Award of Excellence in the Federal/State/County/Municipal category at Tuesday night’s Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) awards dinner and ceremony in Denver, Colorado.

Boynton Beach emerged from two other National Award of Merit winners – the WYMD General Instruction Building at Camp Guernsey, Wyoming, also a 澳门足彩app project, and the Navy General Administration Facility in San Diego, design-built by Turner Construction – to take top category honors.

A third 澳门足彩app project, the United Airlines Catering Operations Kitchen in Newark, New Jersey, also was recognized as an Award of Merit recipient.

Built in a unique public-private partnership, the Boynton Beach facility was complex and the first of its kind attempted in Florida. 澳门足彩app was the prime design-build partner, Boynton Beach Town Square, LLC (CFP) was the owner of the facilities and the contract with 澳门足彩app. E2L Real Estate Solutions was the Construction Manager for CFP, and the City of Boynton Beach was the end-user who leased the building from CFP.

The 102,000-square-foot, four-story City Hall and Library facility is a tilt-up concrete and steel structure that comprises space for the city management staff, building department, commission chambers, community area, a public library and space for a future café.

City officials credit the progressive design-build process and experience of the 澳门足彩app team as the key to the evolving project’s successful completion on time in spite of escalating costs, weather issues, changing codes and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recognized as DBIA Fellows on Tuesday were, from left, Rodney Lee Pope. Vice President, Brown and Caldwell; Mark Deaton, Associate VP, Director of Operations-Architecture, HNTB Corporation; Brian King, President, A M King; Pete Kinsley, President-Infrastructure & Transportation, 澳门足彩app; and David Burton, Business Development for Detention Services, Layton Construction.

Also on Tuesday, Pete Kinsley, Infrastructure & Transportation Group President, was recognized as a DBIA Fellow. Established in 2018, designation as a DBIA Fellow denotes elite status that recognizes the achievements of the most accomplished Designated Design-Build Professionals. Kinsley also joined a panel at the conference discussing the role of the Owner Advisor in design-build.
